What those numbers do and do not tell you

A recorded height and weight is not a body composition. Two athletes at 183 cm and 115 kg can look nothing alike, because everything that matters to a judge — body fat, proportion, conditioning on the day — is invisible in those two numbers.

The one index that tries to describe muscularity independently of height is FFMI, and it needs a body-fat figure that almost no published profile carries. You can run it on your own numbers, where you actually know the third input.

Where this comes from. Athlete records — nationality, birth, height, weight — are from Wikidata, which is public domain. Champion rolls are the factual columns (year, name, country) of the corresponding Wikipedia articles, read at a recorded revision and reproduced as data only; the wording on this page is our own.
